Aftercare
Once you leave the shop, the healing of your tattoo is your responsibility. If you fail to abide by and/or deviate from these aftercare instructions, our touch-up policy will be considered null and void for your tattoo.
Initial bandage on until tomorrow morning.
When you take the bandage off, you will see ink and goo on the bandage. This is normal.
Wash the tattoo with soap, water, and your fingertips.
Pat and air dry.
Massage in a small amount of A&D Ointment, Aquaphor, or Aquatat into the tattoo.
Reapply a bandage if directed by artist, otherwise leave open.
Do this for three to five days until the tattoo starts to flake like a sunburn.
If you let the tattoo dry out, a scab will form and when this scab lifts it will pull color out with it.
Once the tattoo flakes the ointment doesn’t do anything any longer so switch to a fragrance-free hand lotion.
For the first two weeks avoid direct sunlight, salt water, and chlorinated water.
For long term care, put sun block on the tattoo when you go out into the sun.
At first sign of infection, please consult a physician. Signs of infection after 48 hours include inflammation, swelling, heat coming from tattoo, discharge, odor, fever, red streaks, or swollen lymph nodes.
If a touch-up appointment is necessary, the first touch up is free provided these instructions have been followed. If you need to reschedule, you can reschedule twice, and after two reschedules (or a no-show at any appointment) a reduced touch up rate of $50/hr will apply.
